The Australian World Peace Bell was awarded to Cowra in 1992 for its long standing contribution to world peace and international understanding. The Bell is made of coins provided by 103 member countries of the United Nations, which were melted down and cast into the Bell. A ceremony is held on World Peace Day - 3rd Tuesday in September - to mark the opening of the Disarmament at the United Nations. Open at all times - free admission.
Cowra Regional Art Gallery offers audiences a diverse programme of exhibitions, public events and educational activities. Exhibitions include significant historical and contemporary art touring exhibitions from state and national sources, and a showcase of selected works from the Gallery Collection. It is about 400m from the motel.
Just 1.5km away from the motel is the Cowra Golf Club. Described by many as 'the Best Course West of the Blue Mountains', Cowra Golf Club features 18 holes of fully irrigated kikuyu fairways and very well maintained bent greens on a challenging 5954m, Par 71 layout.
The Cowra Rose Garden, a 15 minute walk away, contains approximately 880 bushes of 130 varieties. The Cowra Rose Garden is at its best between late October and May, but also features beautiful annuals during the winter months. The roses are pruned around the second or third week of July each year.
The multi award-winning Cowra Japanese Garden is a 'must see' at any time of the year. The rocky hillside, manicured hedges, waterfalls and streams, and the two lakes provide a serene environment for a myriad of birdlife. Special features of the Garden include a Bonsho Bell, a traditional Edo Cottage, an authentic open air Tea House and a Bonsai House. It is about 5.8km away.
